A noisy 22-year-old furnace and failing AC replaced with a 98% AFUE variable-speed furnace and a quiet two-stage air conditioner.
The Okafors’ furnace was 22 years old, loud and expensive to run, and their AC needed a costly compressor repair. One bedroom was always too hot in summer.
What we did
- Measured static pressure and found an undersized return duct
- Installed a 98% AFUE furnace with a variable-speed blower
- Added a two-stage AC and a new return for the hot bedroom
- Fitted a smart thermostat with remote sensors
The result
- Gas use down 28% in the first winter
- Bedroom temperatures within one degree of the hallway
- A system so quiet the family checks the thermostat to see if it is running
